Caught these brookies in a small stream and gorged on blueberries.

I Sure Hope You Were Carrying

Cause certain critters don't like intruders in their blueberry patch.

Jealous here.

All of the blueberries are gone because of the heat and there are not enough hours in the day to find time to go fishing with 2 little snoops running around the house.

Enjoy!

Our destination yesterday, Loch Leven Lakes are not great for fishing. They are glacial bowls with no streams inflowing. I think they just fill up with snow melt from their relatively small watersheds. They do have an overflow. I assume the water mostly infiltrates into the ground (they aren't salty). The ground is broken granite.

They are great for swimming though, not too cold. You can get hiking clothes that are designed to dry quickly, you just jump in.

Salmon Lake isn't far away, and is a much less popular destination. Highly recommended.

We spent a long weekend with friends at their cabin on upper Echo Lake. The kids were mostly interested in kayaking, and the other adults were either injured or not in sufficient shape to do much hiking, so I got to visit Ralston Peak by myself on Saturday.

Solo hiking is a bit dicey from a safety perspective -- especially in this case, as I decided to take an off-trail shortcut back to the cabin that unexpectedly left me picking my way down an uncomfortably steep talus slope -- but it sure is nice to be able to go at my own pace.

Nice catch Perry!

A 17 year old girl just died from swimming in my river.

amoebic encephalitis

That kinda puts a damper on the summer fun.
