we had two goats on the farm... for a while.?ÿ Charlie Brown and Lucy.?ÿ ?ÿThey used to get all the way up to the top of the rafters in the barn.?ÿ ?ÿThey stink to high heaven and we lived near a swine farm.?ÿ ?ÿTheir dried poop does make for perfect sling shot ammo...or so I hear.?ÿ ?ÿ
I don't know how Dad got rid of them, but they were suddenly gone one day.?ÿ ?ÿWe missed them for about an hour.?ÿ?ÿ

My first doe was purchased fresh (making milk) and she had already been named Martha.?ÿ I naively soon purchased a buck and named him George with George and Martha Washington in mind.?ÿ After a season Martha kidded and gave us two little bundles of hell, Wattles and Billy.
I made the mistake of playing with Billy (they're so much fun) when he was young.?ÿ He never stayed in the pen and was into everything.?ÿ As his little horns popped out he liked to push against my leg with his head.?ÿ I was surprised how strong he was not weighing 25 pounds.?ÿ I would push back and that was our little 'play' time.?ÿ BIG mistake.?ÿ Billy grew to be about 100 pounds.?ÿ And he still liked to play...except he would take a running start at me.?ÿ That damned goat knocked me down so many times I finally took him to the livestock auction.?ÿ
If he hadn't been a registered animal I probably would have cut his throat, skinned him and cooked him over a bed of coals.
Oops
That is exactly why me and goats do not get along. Dad had a few and they were attacking me every time I visited.
They are great for clearing land as they will eat everything they can reach.
I've recommended that too many clients and many have built a critter-proof fence and turned some lose and cleared their land that way. One put some on a 3ac island and they did a great job.
After that, they usually get sold or put on the BBQ. Somebody else's that is because I don't eat goat.
