I have an HP laptop that is about 2 years old. Got windows update notice, and I updated it Friday. After update I closed the screen, and left it there for about an hour. Suddenly it got hot and almost caught on fire. Won't boot--must have burned up. Smells like electrical short. Have any of you seen a Windows update cause a laptop to do this?

Wow. I would guess that it's a coincidence. HP had a battery recall not long ago (due to fire hazard), so you might want to see if yours is/was on the list for free replacement.
