Instrument batteries, almost two years between re-cells.

Topcon robot batteries, I gave up on these, use 12 volt jump battery. Still using original satel batteries after 5 years. I will be looking to replace or re cell the satel batteries this year, or possibly changing to the bantum setup Hayes has. By the way any comments on using the Hayes setup?

Funny... I just posted about Topcon robot batteries. I had a situation yesterday. What is your 12 jump battery setup?

The Hayes setup is great. I love it. The only problem is the little metallic clips that hold the rechargeable batteries in place can become weak and let your batteries get loose... It took me a while to figure that out. So I just shoved a little extra sponge in there and it's all fixed. The BanTams take regular rechargeable (It seems) batteries that can be purchased at Wally World or somewhere. The bigger rod unit takes 4-AA batts, 2500 mvh (or whatever) and my instrument unit takes a 9-volt rechargeable. Just plug them up every night and you are fine. You might keep a set of AA's and a 9-volt in your instrument case or chariot "just in case"

Thanks for your reply Carl. What was the price to change to the Batam system? The last time I checked to replace the batteries in the Satel radios the cost was something like $250 each.

Bob,

I have two sets of the Satel radio batteries. They are about $250 apiece new, but they can be re-celled. I had one done at the local Batteries Plus. I cannot remember the price, as it has been almost 3 years ago.

The BanTam is the only system I have had. Bought it last year with my robot. It was a used set also. Call Hayes as see if they have any used setups around. Might save you some money.
