I’ve been informed that I’m hopeless.

My two nieces told me they had just gone to a Taylor Swift concert. Then I made the mistake of asking who he is. Apparently that was the wrong thing to say.

Then my son was talking about some singing dog (I thought) act. Now I’ve been told there is some guy that calls himself bulldog or pit-bull or something.

I guess I will just have to float along without knowing this stuff.

Join the club...I once asked who Justin Beiber was....all I got for a reply was eye roles.

My ignorance on these subjects is so vast that I suppose I am hopeless. But, as they say ignorance is bliss.

Justin who?

kinda like when i was watching "Celebrity Apprentice" w/ my daughter last night, which i never watch since it doesn't have anything to do w/ a ball that you throw, kick, or hit, nor does it involve hunting or fishing. she had to explain to me who all the "celebrity" women were.

that's when i realized that i hadn't missed anything and that sometimes ignorance truly is bliss.

i may be hopeless, but at least i'm not helpless like those poor gals. bless their hearts.

The bar for "celebrity" and "star" seems to have been set very, very low by the producers of the reality shows today. They might as well include authors of books written in French about people in Mexico of Japanese descent who have married Ku Klux Klan members. I don't know any of them, either.

Nearly 40 years ago there was a commercial that included the phrase, "Let Mikey try it." I fully expect the next "star" to not be Mikey, but, the kid who didn't say anything.

I think Taylor Swift was a female, not male. I'm not positive, but I think she was Tom Slick's girlfriend from an old cartoon that appeared along with "George of the Jungle" in the '60's. Snoopy is/was a newspaper comic's dog that is even older than Tom Slick.

I think I'm more surprised that your kids know these guys and you don't. If you need any further help, feel free to let me know. I'm kind of hip with the younger crowd.

You Poor Benighted persons.

Taylor Swift is a young (around 18-19 now) Female Country singer.

Justin Beiber is a bubblegummers heartthrob.

As to the rest, Google will fill in for you.

:bad: :coffee:

I quit even seeing most of this stuff when my kid "left" home ten years ago. But I've got all his cousins (2-18) that hang around...soooo I'm either going to a cartoon movie, hearing about "stars" like Beyonce (whoever she is), listening to some music that I have no knowledge of, watching something on TV that is just awful or hearing video games from the basement. As long as nobody expects me to know what's going on I'm happy.

I only read 1/2 of this thread. I did not want to learn any more than I had already learned.

I am ignorant on purpose.

at a certain point in my life, I'm not sure when it was exactly, I became very glad I was no longer hip.
