Just noticed that. No matter.

I just hit an excellent 36 at the country club. My best ever so I opted to not play the back nine. I could not improve on that I thought.

I finished the grass mowing much earlier...Yes, my neighbors had a party last night well into the night I might add. That always enlists my lawn mower early in the morning. Payback...Yes, it's a real bitch sometimes.

So home now and all the chores are done and listening to a wonderful voice of a niece of one of our posters from Alaska.

You might draw comparisons to others but this young lady is living in the wilds of Alaska and draws from her soul. What an innocent voice and when she opens up the pipes then it's a real treat. She got me across New Mexico recently.

Noodles.

All her songs come from the heart and her surroundings. That she has a wonderful voice is just icing on the cake.

I hope she does not have to do a song about a bear eating her uncle at some point though. 🙂

I'm not worried about the categories. I think they are fine as they are.

I'm Always Interested in the Lyrics

That's probably because in most popular songs it is really, really difficult to understand what is really being said. Partly because many songs have lyrics like a poem written by someone out of their head on crack or smack or some other mind-bending product. For example:

All the old paintings on the tombs
They do the sand dance don't you know
If they move too quick (oh whey oh)
They're falling down like a domino

All the bazaar men by the Nile
They got the money on a bet
Gold crocodiles (oh whey oh)
They snap their teeth on your cigarette

Foreign types with the hookah pipes say
Ay oh whey oh, ay oh whey oh
Walk like an Egyptian

Blonde waitresses take their trays
They spin around and they cross the floor
They've got the moves (oh whey oh)
You drop your drink then they bring you more

All the school kids so sick of books
They like the punk and the metal band
When the buzzer rings (oh whey oh)
They're walking like an Egyptian

All the kids in the marketplace say
Ay oh whey oh, ay oh whey oh
Walk like an Egyptian

Slide your feet up the street bend your back
Shift your arm then you pull it back
Life is hard you know (oh whey oh)
So strike a pose on a Cadillac

If you want to find all the cops
They're hanging out in the donut shop
They sing and dance (oh whey oh)
Spin the clubs cruise down the block

All the Japanese with their yen
The party boys call the Kremlin
And the Chinese know (oh whey oh)
They walk the line like Egyptian

All the cops in the donut shop say
Ay oh whey oh, ay oh whey oh
Walk like an Egyptian
Walk like an Egyptian

I agree with that, nice performance, and love the artists that talk a lot to their audience between the songs, creates a special atmosphere. Fish, the old Marillion singer, was just great at that, long stories and some 'official tour jokes' he called them.

Please consider adding a category for music; but, one that includes a broad spectrum of entertainment, arts, etc. - so that we're not bogged down in a category maze. If you'd want to keep the hard line, it still fits "General Non-Surveying". What about guns, huntn and fishn, airplanes, travel, croceting...

Land Surveying...remember?

Please don't get category crazed like what you're obviously reluctant to do. There's an entire web for everything else. Combine and simplify please.

You've done such an outstanding job here!

Yeah, I definitely considered it, I just want to make sure we don't clutter up the categories. That is one of the problems at some other site we won't mention.

One other reason I try to think carefully about this also is because you could literally devise hundreds of categories. If we add one specialty topic, it could lead to others. I'm not writing off the idea, just making sure we are all carefully considering and discussing it.

If we were to create it, yes, I think we'd definitely want it to be of broad scope. Like "Arts & Entertainment" or something like that.

Noodles.

My mention of the fact there was not a music category was more of an observation. I think there are enough categories as it is now. I do wonder how posting vids impacts those still on dial up. On the old board some would complain that when a vid was in a thread then it just killed their machine. We sorta worked around that by adding (Vid) in the thread title.

I think general is fine for hunting, fishing, music and many other side interests.

Deral knows this, but Mariah is my niece. I of course am the proud Uncle. She is a very talented and "squared away" young lady. We were in Fairbanks last weekend and I got to spend some time with her, including listening to some final mixes on her new CD that will release this fall.
