If you are in the buying mood take a look at the current rumblings in the financial industry about Disney (DIS). Im going to watch it closely for a week or so and then make a decision. I’m so glad I liquidated my IRA before the you know what hit the fan. Ain’t much but at least it’s still there. ????

Lots of things to like about Disney for sure. One old-school fundamental that I look at is the dividend yield on stocks vs the long-term (20-30 year) bond rate. The stock price decline coupled with the reduction in bond rates fixed some of the disparity there and made dividend-paying stocks more attractive ... at least to me.

Heck, there's no such thing as a crystal ball and there are holes in every analysis, so you pays your money and you takes your chances. Yesterday's buy tapped me out, so I'm back on the sidelines today.

There's still a ton of free cash out there and there are very few places to invest it, so I'm still optimistic for the long term.

I had gotten afraid the recent new highs wouldn't hold, and thinned my stock-picking account in January and February.?ÿ I put a good fraction of that cash back in the market today.?ÿ Could be a mistake, but the drop from the peak was just too good to resist.?ÿ We won't see those peaks again for a long while, but I expect I'll be profitable sometime this summer, and well ahead of holding through from the peak. I left the mutual funds to follow the market, though.

So never follow my financial advice.?ÿ On Mar 9, I seriously underestimated the impact on the markets, with today (Mar 12) being down huge percentages again.

I'm beginning to wonder if the NEW fiat paper currency is going to be Toilet Paper!

Single ply cheap stuff = $1 per sheet, up to triple ply high "dollar" stuff @ $5 per sheet!

Monday night only a few packages?ÿ (maybe a dozen) of "high end" toilet paper on the shelf at Smiths here in Evanston, last night it was ZERO packages, and the paper towels were going fast!

What's the old Chinese curse?

"May you live in interesting times" (or something to that effect)

:)?ÿ

It'll probably work better than a gold coin for that. On the other hand, a gold coin might be reusable, no problems with which way the roll unwinds, and no deciding whether to fold or wad.

Might be time to buy more gold.

I've been watching Gold pretty close the last few days, and although I have about convinced myself to buy 10 or 20 ounces (a significant "investment" for this old bird), I haven't pulled the trigger yet.

My "practice" has been closely tied to Gold prices for the last 40 years or so, but I have never bought either Gold Stocks, or coins/bullion.

Pretty hard to buy a tank of fuel and a six-pack with a 1oz. Gold Buffalo!

That's the truth. i have a friend who hoards gold and owns a pistol. He never spends the gold nor does he ever shoot the pistol.

If he ever needs to do either, he may not remember how.

I stopped by the grocery store tonight on my way home from town. I didn't really need anything, but the scuttlebutt around the saloon was hard to believe (empty shelves, etc).

I have been around a while, and traveled a bit (including behind the "Iron Curtain"), but what I saw tonight was like something out of a dystopian movie...bizarre!

I think I'll make some comfort food (Beef Pot Roast) this weekend, and watch some Baseball Games (from last season).

It seems to be a rich person's disease. Movie stars, heads of state, pro basketball players, and world travelers. So we're changing our habits to avoid them. No more Domino's , Arbys, or Wendys. From now on, it's Little Caesar's, Long John Silver's, and Taco Bell.

Please note I do not endorse the practice mentioned in this headline from today's FOX news.

Hindu group consumes cow urine to ward off coronavirus

Believing that cow urine can ward off?ÿcoronavirus, a?ÿHindu?ÿgroup in?ÿIndia?ÿreportedly hosted a cow urine drinking party Saturday to test their belief.

The cow is sacred to many Hindus and some drink cow urine?ÿbelieving it has medicinal purposes.

?ÿ

But experts have repeatedly asserted that cow urine does not cure illnesses like cancer and there is no evidence that it can prevent coronavirus, according to Reuters.

INDIAƒ??S HOLI FESTIVAL SUBDUED AMID CORONAVIRUS OUTBREAK

The party hosted by Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha (All India Hindu Union) drew a crowd of 200 people in New Delhi, according to Reuters.

ƒ??We have been drinking cow urine for 21 years, we also take bath in cow dung. We have never felt the need to consume English medicine,ƒ? Om Prakash, an attendee told Reuters.

World travel is no longer limited to lifestyles of the rich and famous. My daughter lives in Vietnam in a community that includes the full economic spectrum. Asia is the new 'hitch-hike across Europe'.

Most large communities are past or passing the stage where a few infections from outside are the problem. Unfortunately that seems to coincide with the abandon of civility and common sense. The folks with four truckloads of toilet paper are about to learn that you need food to make a turd...

It is a very small world nowadays and accessible to most of us. And I suspect that the infected cohort contains many folks nearer to average than Tom Hanks.

Tom Hanks may fill an important gap for us if he continues to provide updates on how he feels. I think that's been an important element ignored by the press. Maybe they can't identify anyone whose been infected, or maybe none of those people want to share their experiences, but knowing?ÿ how sick they were might be helpful.

Saw this a minute ago. Maybe there is some justice left in the world.?ÿ https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/he-has-17700-bottles-of-hand-sanitizer-and-nowhere-to-sell-them/ar-BB11blvS?li=BBnb7Kz
