On the highway, headed back to the office when a small car whipped around from the blind side of an eighteen wheeler - right in front of the eighteen wheeler - into my lane and locked up the brakes. Had to stand on the brakes to keep from hitting them, and by some miracle, no one was directly behind me when we came to a stop.
The little car then took off, crossing two lanes onto an exit ramp.?ÿ
That dumba^^ will live to be 100 but will kill 100 others along the way.
I sometimes think, but have no hard proof, that there are people who might target company trucks for a lawsuit.?ÿ
Easy money for some.
I rode in a State vanpool 20 years ago. On the way home one afternoon, a vehicle whipped in front of us at 60 mph in the Diamond Lane and slammed on the brakes. Don't know how, but our driver saw it coming and somehow got stopped. It was a targeted incident, no doubt. When we didn't hit them, they took off immediately and exited the freeway. Looking for deep pockets and easy money.
Youtube is awash in videos of similar incidents.

You must have been on your way to Disney World in Orlando on I-4. Ain't no way ta git there except I-4 (well there are other ways but the gringos don't know about it). I-4 is like a prerequisite to Disney, if you survive you can spend 8 out of 14 hours standing in line. If you happen to find yourself in some sort of vehicular mishap we have very fine medical facilities. It all started after Disney realized Mr. Toad's Wild Ride was being usurped by Interstate 4 so they closed the ride since I-4 "out thrilled" their production. ?????ÿ
@flga-2-2 Come drive I-285 around Atlanta any work day between 06:00 and 09:00 or between 16:00 and 19:00.?ÿ Please note that the speed limits are variable.?ÿ Normally if you drive below the speed limit you will save gas..... the car behind you will propel you down the road with his bumper.
Andy
Been on that godforsaken road too many times. You either go 85 mph or get rear ended. ?????ÿ
It would seem to be a great scam.?ÿ The car behind is always at fault unless it can be proved otherwise, no way you can prove intent, and no other witnesses hang around.?ÿ The risk for them is some damage to an old beater car and the possibility of actual whiplash or other injury rather than just the claimed whiplash.?ÿ They can probably live for a year or two on the settlement.
They use the reverse method in FL when carjacking was the in thing. They would rear end you at a stoplight and two would jump out to confront you, one or both with a weapon. So, if you wanted to live you just gave up and one would drive your car away while the culprit vehicle went on its way leaving you standing in an intersection. Now you rarely hear of it because everybody's armed. ???? (at least the locals)
@flga-2-2?ÿ I don't think countering a carjacking warrants deadly force.?ÿ It's a property theft crime. Maybe the rules of engagement are different in Florida.
In my career as an engineer I've met a few expats who have worked in South Africa, and have heard a few tales of car jacking over there. One guy said he had a double plated rear window in his ute to deflect bullets. Another said he was carjacked while entering a driveway, and they took everything including his passport, which he said turned out to be a good thing, because they read his passport and said that if it were not for the fact that he was a New Zealander, they would have topped him. Then there was the photo in the early days of the internet that showed a blue BMW e30, purportedly belonging to the local Police chief, that had propane fuelled flamethrowers from the sills of each side of the car.
I grew up so sheltered that I mistakenly believed I lived in a civilized country.
It's a gamble for sure.?ÿ You can throw yourself at the mercy of an armed thief who you hope will simply steal objects that can be replaced. Or, you fight back and hope that hours of training give you the upper hand.?ÿ What I disagree with is people who don't train with their weapon system putting bystanders in danger.?ÿ If you carry a weapon for self defense, please practice with it frequently.?ÿ There are many places to get professional instruction and it's usually a blast...
In the part of town where sometimes shots are fired over drug deals, I have always been amazed by news stories saying "5 shots were fired according to witnesses, but no injuries were reported."?ÿ It sounds like any bystanders would be in as much danger as their targets.
If the person jacking you is waving his weapon around you can't know if it's a car jacking or car jacking plus murder. You are also at the mercy of the jackers level of training, discipline and mercy.
Read recently of a one month-old child being hospitalized from a stray bullet that was fired by one driver shooting at another driver on the street somewhere near the house.
Check out the action from 45 secs onward:
Amazing!?ÿ I wouldn't try getting through some of those gaps in our Ford Focus.
I had someone try that 3 times.?ÿ I'm like you a$$hole
