I haven't been paying much attention lately, so I apologize if this has been previously posted.
I was saddened to read our beloved (hon.) USMC Gunnery Sargent R. Lee Ermey snapped his last salute the other day.?ÿ I will miss his warm candor and genuine affection.?ÿ
One interview I saw?ÿof him a few years ago was a good example of his "extemporaneous" acting style.?ÿ On the set of "Full Metal Jacket" retired Master Sergeant Ermey was given a loose reign on his lines when barking at the "recruits".?ÿ 100% of his dialogue was produced on the spot and in full character.?ÿ From ostracizing?ÿ"private snowflake" to the famous "didn't mommy and daddy given you enough love?", Ermey stayed in character so well he was actually asked to "tone it down some" because he was intimidating the cast.?ÿ
Ermey was reported as saying, "Shit.?ÿ I thought that's what they hired me for.."
Semper Fi Gunny.
Yeah I read that today. It mentioned he was blackballed in Hollywood after speaking out against the previous administration and never madequate another movie.?ÿ

My eldest son came to me for permission to sign with the Air Force when he was 17 and spend his senior high school year with a recuiter while he waited to graduate and enter basic training.
Doing so placed him in some deal that he would be able to receive a scholarship with the Air Force Academy.
I ordered the movie "Full Metal Jacket" and gave it to him at the bus station as he headed to San Antonio two days after he walked across the stage to receive his?ÿ HS diploma on May 29, 2001 and told him that this movie could describe what to expect more than I could ever tell you about.
Somehow he came out with a double Doctorate in Law and his last name is now Esquire.
RIP Gunny
Congratulations, Kinda bittersweet feeling when you realize any one of your children is twice as smart as you are.?ÿ ??ÿ

Now, don't let these sweat stained antique clothes that I wear to HardKnocksUniversity every day fool you.
I am very proud of my son, he has many papers on the wall that came with a robe, tassels and funny hat, and he earned all the fancy letters on the shingle above his door, however, that has never stopped him from learning something new every time we visit together.
