Not often we get any military aircraft this big or size here in cape town, but here they are at Cape town international unloading and preparing for Obama's visit to cape town over the weekend, last time we saw this much military activity was when Clinton came in mid 90's.

Hope the weather clears, we've been sitting in the office for two days as a massive cold front has just rolled in... I am busy setting up a second survey team , just awaiting the delivery of a new S3 robot and a break in the weather...so I can start paying it off again.

You have my sympathies. Any time a US pres shows up there are massive disruptions to life.

Lee,
good to hear there's a lot of work to do in South Africa, Europe is very slow nowadays!
Keep us posted about the S3, I'm curious if you'll notice any difference compared to the S6 for the daily work.

Hi christ

When i demo ed the s3 a week or two ago, i could pick up no noticable differences in tracking or stake out speed, but i will find out soon.

The edm motor makes less noise than an s6 but makes a clunkier sound.

The obvious difference was the centering eyepiece is mounted on the tribach, not the robot, so setting up over a peg is a little harder, as it does not rotate with the instrument. Also it has no screen on the robot, so you need to connect by cable or bluetooth maybe to change radio frequencies, but that is not something done very often.

I will run it for a few weeks and give some feedback .

It is going for a real good price here on a special, nearly half the price i paid for my s6 robot 5 years ago.

As far as work goes, lotsa spending on government work here in this province by dept of education.

Last year they did 43 new schools, this year they want to do 76, so we just started school number 4 last week, its a big one that will keep us busy for a year or so.

Also lotsa road upgrade projects out to upgrade old concrete roads to asphalt, they want topos done at 10 m intervals. And no gps , so ideal work for a robot, but difficult as the sites are in poor improvished areas, security is an issue.

Missed my guess

But, I was kind of halfway close, in a way. I was going to say, "Sidney Poitier".

Old geezers, like me, remember the movie, "Guess who's coming to dinner".

A great film. I laughed. I cried.

Missed my guess

Spencer Tracy's last movie.

Also starring Katherine Hepburn:
[asked what star quality is] It's either some kind of electricity or some kind of energy. I don't know what it is, but whatever it is, I've got it.

If you want to sacrifice the admiration of many men for the criticism of one, go ahead, get married.
