Is there a way to make fractions in Word 2007 so that the fraction line is horizontal and not slanted?
Some fractions in WORD are standard symbols. Go to INSERT, then to SYMBOLS, and scroll down.
For example:
¼ ½ ¾ ?
If this is not good enough, then go to Equation Editor, and you can get perfectly horizontal bars for whatever fraction you wish to write. Note that Equation Editor is available as a no-extra charge macro that comes with WORD. I have the extra-charge version that I use for writing lecture notes, technical papers, etc.
As Cliff has already mentioned, the Equation Editor is probably the best way. It does take some practice but once you get the hang of it you can enter simple fractions or complex equations easily in a variety of formats.
This image is a capture of my screen showing the quadratic equation in Word 2010 constructed using the Equation Editor:
This was created using the editor included with Word.
