Every once in a while I'll do something just like that. I'll enter a word, look at it, decide it's not right, try a different spelling, look at it, decide that not's right either, then decide to use a different word that I know how to spell for sure. Simple words like satellite and exaggerate. Sattelite and exagerate show up with little red lines under them for some weird reason.

As to the submittal by the senior citizen from Florida, I will admit to having been accused of being full of hot air on rare occasions.

A short story: At the school board meeting last week we heard a request from a student representing one of the high school organizations. As a fund raiser, they wanted to try something not done before at this school. Students could select a specific parking space and then paint something unique plus their name within the space. The fee would be $25, except for the senior class members who would pay $15. We approved. Later, I commented to the other board members that I would like to buy a parking space, too. One wag who is under 40 said, "Yeah, and you would get the senior discount, too." I loved it. Hey, if you can't laugh at yourself you shouldn't be laughing at others.

One that has gigged me since I began typing is Oklaohma. And I probably type it at least thirty times a day. It has something to do with the way my fingers are wired to my brain. I've even thought of swapping keys on my keyboard it happens so much...

Seciton is my downfall. I know how to spell it, but my fingers don't agree with my brain.

Don't feel too bad about that. In other parts of the country words like wash and idea apparently also contain an "R", but car does not.

Southerners use extra R's to make up for all the ones Northerners don't use.

I do too; except I will copy and paste into google and see what that says is correct. Works for grammar, sometimes, too...:smarty:

I do that also, especially on my tablet. The "built in word presumption/anticipation thingy" is always NOT what I wanted and editing on a tablet is a pain in the posterior.

I sure hope that if I stop posting here it's not for the same reason as Ol' Hub Northing.

For me, the switching the letters thing is based on a right-hand vs. left-hand letter (I think). Where my right-hand might hit the "second" letter a half-second before my left hand hits the "first".

Another problem is that I tend to think in terms of words vs. letters, so even though I meant "their" my fingers might type "there". It might be that they type the one that I use more often.

I remember one time getting a lot of razzing for typing "aliquot" when I meant to type "adequate". Maybe my brain slurs its words and my fingers think I said something else.

Way back in high school, when we had coal-fired typewriters, I learned that any word that ended in "th" was a candidate to accidentally end in "the" when I had to type it. Withe was a common word found in my work. The teacher wanted us to practice on going faster all the time. The word "the" appears so frequently that my mind wanted every use of "th" to be immediately followed by an "e".

"I spell good...."

That will get you a detention from Mrs. Cow, the middle school English teacher. That is only acceptable if the full sentence is: "I spell good as g, o, o, d."

As you are reporting "how" (hint: adverb) you spell, the correct adverb to insert is "well".

I misspel goodder than ewe?
