I Live in just outside of Lexington and work on the other side of Columbia. Overall I am suprised at the attitude of most people around here. Travel is a nightmare in this area due to road closures and will continue to be as bridges are replaced. And the Columbia water supply is haveing trouble getting back on line due to a breach of the levy between the River and the 190 year old canal that is the main source of water intake for the system. As the waters recede the canal has drained, attempts to build a cofferdam to pool the water are being hampered by weakening of other sections of the existing levy. Most of the business, and gubmint offices have remained closed due to lack of water, which has reduced travel and impact on the road and utility system. I fear that there will be a much larger need of road repair as damage to bridge approch areas are assesed. Here is a link to latest article on the canal problem.
