I saw where the National Hurricane Center has fined tuned the path of Dorian more northerly and headed in your direction.?ÿ Y'all be sure to either stock up and hunker down or get the heck out of Dodge.?ÿ Them dang storms ain't nothing to fool around with, just ask the folks in the Panhandle.

Hi Andy, yeah I am watching it. I'm gonna stay unless it becomes a Cat 4 or 5. We have a "safe room", if needed. If you've ever driven around FL, especially Orlando, you'd realize real quick like there ain't no way in hell people could pull off a mass evacuation. I'd rather be at home than sitting in my car on I-95 or I-75. Already have a small generator, lots of coffee and I think I'll buy a keg "just in case". Actually we have enough for 2 weeks if necessary. (food and water, not beer). I just hope it doesn't get into the Gulf and hit NOLA, those people have been through enough. Take care, you'll probably get some rain. ???? ?ÿ

I'm watching it too.?ÿ My family in southwest Georgia is still recovering from Michael last Fall.?ÿ My generator is still down there where I carried it for that recovery.?ÿ Y'all just be safe whatever you decide.

@andy-j

Yeah, us crackers know how to read "spaghetti forecasts" looks like a kindergartener with a new set of markers. You know as well as I do how those can go anywhere unexpectedly. I.e. Andrew. ?????ÿ

Hell, I really don't have any options other than to fly to Atlanta. It's either stay here, fly out, or evacuate by car (a horse would be faster but I ain't got one) and get in a wreck, run out of gas, get shot at, or any combination thereof. Nope, staying home. If it gets too bad I'll get in the lake and submerge with a garden hose snorkel. ?????ÿ

We got surprised when Dorian went further north and was stronger than expected. So we got Cat 1 winds instead of just a windy rainy day. But not a lot of damage done. One disturbing thing is that at least one of the thousands of new composite (fiberglass) utility poles snapped.?ÿ I think it didn't have a guy where it should have. But still...?ÿ These are over 2' in diameter and rated for 200 mph. When they block the road as this one did, they can't be cut with a chain saw.

My theory is that when a storm tracks different from the forecast, as this one has, there's something happening that the models don't get right and the models and forecasters can't make a correction to something that is obviously happening, but they don't understand. I think Dorian will go north of the forecast and hit further up the coast or maybe miss the US completely.

Be prepared. Be safe.

?ÿ

@larry-best

I HOPE it heads further north (WAY further north) but the forecasters here are saying there is a high pressure system to the north that is turning Dorian south.
