I'm having a conversation with my daughter on Facebook. She is sitting about 3 feet away from me on the sofa. She is using an Iphone; I am using a 4.5 year old hp laptop on my Lynksys wifi.

You know how to talk, don't you Dan? Put your fingers on the keyboard and type!

Actually the whole thing makes me sick. Everywhere you go everyone is glued to a smartphone looking at emails, text messages, the internet, or just pretending that they have friends. What did people do before cellphones? Did they actually make eye contact with strangers and carry on actual conversations with those around them?

Still don't see why the image didn't work, since the link inside looks the same.

perhaps the server is set to prevent other websites from displaying images or media files as their own (this is called hotlinking). That would cut down on the server hits and much unwanted extra traffic.
My server/host gives me that option.
Wendell could confirm of refute that I am sure.

You are using the img tag to link to the HTML page, not the image itself.

The New Posture

Drive around any campus and you'll see the new posture. People standing or walking with their head bent forward at a 30 degree angle staring down at a tiny screen. I think we are doomed as a civilization.

The New Posture

I've tried to walk and text at the same time, I can't do it. I probably look like a drunk which I am a drunk but I don't have to look like one 😉

I Miss the Good Ol' Days...

I do like the convenience of being able to type to everyone at the same time, emailing, texting and sitting here in my pajamas while I do it but I have to admit I do miss the old days where it was just a phone or CB/ham radio or walkie talkies that one had to communicate with others via voice. I'd spend hours on the phone with my friends or boyfriend(s) yacking and it made us make plans to do more socializing in person which was always a blast! (Thinking Roller Rink days here...)

If you didn't want to do that then writing a letter worked and it was always fun to get a letter in the mail. You knew you were extra special when you got a package from someone in the mail!! 🙂

I personally enjoy mailing letters and cards so that will never change here but I know I am in the minority now. As the generations change so does the way these generations communicate. Us old school people can choose to adapt to whatever works best for us. 🙂

HOLD THE PHONE. Are you serious? 28 degrees outside at your place. It's about 38 or so in Lawton and really overcast. They said near 80 and sunny. Yes, this is Oklahoma weather.

It's one of those places where you can always be wrong (weathermen) and still have a job where people tune in to hear you. Go figure.

Well, it did warm up to a balmy 32º now. We're getting snow possibly tonight and for sure tomorrow night. About 2" worth. I like the snow, it is pretty, but I do NOT like the cold!! 🙁

We can always count on weather extremes on moving day. It's become normal and expected.

The New Posture

There's a commercial, spoofing the iPhone generation, showing a surrealistic scene of crashed cars, people who've fallen off of their bicycles, and so on - and all of them are still just so engrossed in their mobile devices.
