well, the griswolds made it back from ioway. sure was nice to get out in the sticks for a bit. then improvised on the way back and stopped in eureka springs for a couple days. wow- if'n you've never been there. couldn't care less about the bikers and the tchotchke shops, but what a remarkable little town. think i need to plan a few days there just for myself and my running shoes.
good/bad news is an avalanche of work was waiting when i turned the laptop on...
Largest and second largest is a long standing battle.?ÿ Either one is HUGE!
Discussion of 4 big ones
I always thought these were legends...had no idea they were real.?ÿ Now I have to go see them.?ÿ 🙂
The picture at bottom right looks more like a giant cantaloupe headed to the county fair. Ball of string huh? You humans are a weird bunch. ?????ÿ
(I've subscribed to Atlantic for years but don't remember seeing that article)
The huge one in the lower left is the one in Cawker City, Kansas.?ÿ That's about half way west across the state and not too far south of the Nebraska border.?ÿ I have seen that more than once.?ÿ It gets a little bigger each year as the locals have a day where volunteers work to make it bigger.?ÿ Enlarging it by the thickness of one layer of twine is a HUGE amount of twine.?ÿ It is on the south side of the street in downtown, not that there is much more than downtown, so you can't miss it.?ÿ The gazebo provides a considerable amount of protection but blowing rain, sleet or snow can still get to the twine.?ÿ Other little videos are available for those curious but this one does a nice job of showing the local topography---GPS heaven.

@holy-cow that’s the one Clark is talking about before they ever off to cousin eddie’s.
