Well what do you expect when you poke it with a bar. I would not be happy too.

Ran into(and dispatched) a 5.5' footer a few years back surveying in Texas City, Tx. Ran in to him while climbing out of a ditch that I was cutting line across. Turned to the client rep, after I cut in half and asked him if they make snake chaps that cover my upper body. I normally do not kill snakes, except when I run into them face to face with them less than 4' away. It was more a reaction kill than planned.

Was nailed by a boa as a teenager. The critter's mouth covered the entire palm of my hand. Wasn't poisonous, but definitely a memorable moment. Helped my regularity.
