Or some call it National Heritage Day, or simply Cinco de Mayo. Contrary to popular belief it is not a Federal holiday in Mexico, but is actually only celebrated regionally.
The history of Battle of Puebla Day is pretty interesting. A day of national pride to remember when the common people rose up and defended their land with garden hoes and machetes from a superior European invasion.
I believe I will celebrate a lunche hoy. Enchiladas spinaca con arroz y frijoles sounds good. Arriba! 😉
