Around here, if you call the fire department, they will smash a window to get the animal out.

True, but unfortunately it's usually children that were "forgotten" by their parent(s):-(
People that are unaware that children are in the car with them shouldn't be allowed to have them.

Some people think more of their pets than their kids. Which is just plain sick in my book.
