My sixteen year old Granddaughter wants a quad copter for Christmas.

She wants to be able to video and take stills. Both of these quads seem identical with respect to cameras; however the Mavic will only accept an iPhone in the controller whereas the Phantom accepts tablets.

What say you?

Help!

I'd go with the Phantom, because I don't use apple products.

The Maverick would be a better drone for a youngster to start with. Much smaller footprint easy to use and quiet.

That doesn't make sense. You can operate both drones with an Android tablet or Phone.

I have a mavic and it works with ipads, iphones, android phones, android tablets.?ÿ

I mostly use my S7, but have had a tablet in it too.

The holder 'thumbs' wont open far enough to hold a big tablet, but most guys just velcro the tablet onto the 'thumbs' and get on with flying.

If you are using an android app will DJI Go and Tapfly work OK? I think the app Follow Me won't work with android. Follow Me isn't a big deal for me. I have an old S6 edge I would like to use in beginner mode, but will screen size and glare cause a problem? I am NOT an Apple fan.

Thanks Mark.

Here is your answer, from Gregg's link above.

For 20% of the population, you might want to consider the?ÿPhantom 4 Pro?ÿor?ÿPhantom 4 Advanced?ÿsince the camera is better (when viewed side-by-side) than the Mavic. Plus, the added sensors can save you one day if you do a lot of proximity flying.

For the other 80% of the population, I think the?ÿMavic Pro?ÿis going to be your best bet. Itƒ??s super compact, the camera is good enough to get amazing shots, it has the?ÿbest live video feed Iƒ??ve ever seen on a drone, and it works perfectly with DJI Goggles.
