So my lovely wife stops and gets a headlight bulb for her car. Driver side low beam is out. No problem she gets the bulb. I go out pop the hood and cant see the darn thing so i start filling around. I mean its a head light bulb. Degnabit hands are to fat to squeeze in the tight space. They have engineered these things that not even a fly can maneuver and squeeze through the engine bay. I had to get my daughter to help. She is 11. Why why . They have improved vehicles in every aspect. But come on leave a little wiggle room some space to do basic things. I remember sitting i. The fender well of the engine bay watching and learning how to do things like spark plugs water pump belts valve covers as a kid. Now you can??t even sit a cup off coffee down.?ÿ
sorry my rant today.?ÿ
Keep it clean wipe off all fingerprints and skin oil. Maybe use Windex, and paper towell to wipe and to hold it. And clean it. Oil makes hot spot. Hot spot makes bulb burn out fast. Now you are back where you started. Capice senior?
@nate-the-surveyor I mean the space between the battery and some darn support bracket along with who knows plastic piece ya can??t reach the bulb. Thankfully my 11 year old has learned lefty loose righty tighty so i could tell her how to get it out. If not it looked as if i would have to dismantle half the front of the car. Just for the light bulb. ?????ÿ
@olemanriver car might need a $2 sensor which is permanently attached to the cable harness??$1900 ouch
We had a Pontiac one time that you had to remove a strut for the front right fender to replace the battery.?ÿ The battery was underneath the strut and couldn't be moved with the strut in place.?ÿ Chevrolet made a car called the Monza in the mid '70s.?ÿ In the V6 version a hole had to be drilled in the right front fender well to access the rear spark plug.?ÿ Every designed should be made to work on their cars at least once before production.
Of course I said the same thing about Civil Engineers (and Architects) and their plans too.?ÿ You should be required to spend at least a year on construction sites before being allowed to sit for the license exam.
Andy
There was a car that required removing the front passenger tire in order to get to the oil filter.
@andy-bruner Now that is a thought for sure about being on a construction site. I was doing grade ck??s on a hwy project before I graduated high school and running heavy equipment. I was no master grade guy. But i had learned to use a hand level rag tape and use a dirt clod to layout and read slope stakes. The dirt clod was used because gravity so no slope distance. Lol. Didn??t have no plumb bob. ?ÿIn my second engineering/ survey course. We were given a 50 acre boundary we had to design a subdivision on. ?ÿLots and drainage all the sudo requirements as our final project. We had to figure cost and all that. Me and another fellow was the only ones that designed way under budget. We saved the assumed developer a lot of money because he had worked for his dad doing earthworks and i had a little experience myself. It made a huge difference in our thought process of where to place common areas houses roads etc. cost of moving cut section to fill section to balance out everything. ?ÿAverage end area was one of the things we learned in that class. ?ÿNow i am no designer or engineer but our approach was very different than our other class mates. They were not wrong we were just drastically different is All?ÿ
You may as well add this accessory while the kid is within shouting distance.... ?????ÿ
@flga-2-2 LOL. I stopped to grab a water. ?ÿTopo a parking lot now I can??t stop laughing. That made my day. I should be using a 3d scanner on this job I would be done. But its the old fashioned way. Our cad guy doesn??t like all those points. ?ÿHe has not figured out how to extract what he needs yet. And densify the point clouds. Create the surface and not look at points all the time. ?ÿ?ÿ
Somehow, I just knew his freshly installed mailbox would come into play before the clip was over.
