I am told that getting PURE honey is getting harder and harder. It is cut with some sort of other sugar, to make it go farther.

Now we know where the idea behind the "Sky Jacker" wasp from the Hunger Games books came from.
I don't think the regular sized wasp spray our crews carry would help. It would just make these hornets angry.
I wish I hadn't seen that article. That's the stuff of nightmares!
Thanks Natester, I was fresh out of nightmares. 😉
Scary stuff. I keep bees and one summer about five years ago we had an epidemic of yellow jackets. They were just everywhere. At some point they began trying to force their way into my hives to pillage. It was an epic battle, all out war at the hive entrances. A yellow jacket would try and get in. Ten bees would get stung to death to take out that one hornet. By the end of the battle there were maybe two dozen dead hornets and hundreds of dead bees piled up at the hive entrance. I killed hundreds if not thousands of yellow jackets with traps that summer. The battles left the hives weak and honey production was less than stellar that year.
These giants are the stuff of nightmares.
I think those are called the Asian giant hornet.
I saw a show about them once and they attack honey bee hives, catch them in mid-air and bite their heads off.
Never the less, I only hit by a hornet one time and I thought I had been shot with a 22. I was cutting grass so I wouldn't have heard that small caliber gun shot. It was un-Godly painful and hurt for several days.
Not good!!

We keep bees so it's not a problem for us, but we have standing orders that ALWAYS sell.
