Edit - now I'm second guessing myself and thinking 9. I guess that's cheating ...

9 - (3 div 1/3) +1
= 9 - 9 + 1 = 1

The trick is to multiply by the reciprocal (and do that first). My 7th grader says answer = 1.

No.. answer is 9. PEMDAS and left to right.

9-(3ÌÑ1/3)+1=9-1+1=8+1=9

No.. sorry.. small screen. I did it wrong.

9-(3ÌÑ3/1)+1=9-9+1=1

BODMAS order: brackets, of, division, multiplication, addition, subtraction.

There no brackets, and I can't remember if "of" means anything, so I'd say "1/3" is just another number, so:

3 divided by 1/3 = 9 then
9-9+1 = 1

?

We have reached the point where answering is futile. If you say anything other than 1, you will be ridiculed. If you say 1, you will be accused of cheating.

27/3 -27/3 + 3/3 = 3/3 or -1 times i squared

PEDMAS is better than BODMAS, so maybe I remembered it wrong (35 years ago, aka yesterday) and it should be BEDMAS.

I certainly would have thought you, of all people, would have explained it this way:

Y'all have a great weekend! B-)
