I've been watching it each morning as it's moving into it's Black phase during my morning bike ride.
Today was to be the day but alas there was a bank of clouds along the eastern horizon so I was out of luck.
As I was driving to work a national radio show "journalist" was probably reading from a script and explaining it.
Every 32 months, new moon, bla, bla, bla...........
Then he said the most extraordinary thing; "but don't bother looking for it, the black moon will be shrouded in darkness"
uhhhhhhh,,,,,,,,,,,,
Geometry is not taught for a journalist degree.

This is about what it looked like yesterday, (just before sunrise) I was hoping for the last look at it today before it went "black".
Of course what you see is reflected earth light and the reason you can't see a new moon is cause it's in line with the sun, surrounded by light which swamps the reflected earth light (or shrouded by light).
