Stolen from somewhere,

"Bee behavior is affected by temperature. They rarely work when the temperature is below?ÿ57oF?ÿor above?ÿ100oF.?ÿThey cannot fly when the temperature is below?ÿ55oF.?ÿOn very hot days, bees cluster outside unshaded hives and do not work."

I behave like a scared female child..........Where should I send my man card??ÿ

Spiders are like snakes; my reaction is proportional to their proximity.

I fail.?ÿ My reaction to snakes has moderated over the years, knowing that poisonous ones are rare in this area, but spiders still freak me out.

My nickname of "Strawberry Shortcake" sadly has nothing to do with food...

The first spiderweb I walk thru makes me stop dead in my tracts to clear the web off me and look for the Spider, the next ones I walk thru I just keep on walking.?ÿ

Kinda like getting your boots and socks wet, once they are wet might was well keep working till wet part of the job is finished. Then put on a dry pair.

It's not the web that bothers me.?ÿ I'm worried where the owner of the web ended up when I destroyed its web and how unhappy it might be with me.

I like bees, but NOT their evil cousins!! ??ÿ
Plus I am deathly allergic. One sting and I am off to the hospital! ??ÿ
Fortunately, my bees here are kind and nice. Esp. the big bumblebees.

As for the rest, well... I have a cartoon for that! ??ÿ

Me too Angel.?ÿ I have a Salvia that attracts bees like crazy.?ÿAt any one time I'll have anywhere from 20 to 50 on it.?ÿ Most of them are Bumblebees that don't bother you at all.?ÿ When I water the plant they just keep on sipping on the nectar.

There may be a very good reason those bees are attracted to the salvia. It is a well known hallucinogenic.?ÿ

You chew the leaves and.......you get.......high. Never done it but I have sure heard about it.?ÿ

So are you growing any medicinal marijuana to compliment it?

Retirement huh. When my dad retired he became a stoner.

Late summer and early fall is when I usually get stung. I was reminded of this last Friday.?ÿ

?ÿ

It was approaching 100 degrees when I waded into the sea of kudzu. I managed to hack my way out of a dry drainage ditch completely choked with the evil vine and climbed onto a steep bank. Right about the moment I got to the area where I was hoping to find a rebar, and just after I situated my schonstedt, prism pole and bush axe on the slope, the yellow jackets started stinging me. I like to focus on the good in a given situation, so I was glad all six stings were confined to my side, back, and belly as opposed to my head or below the belt.

And my wife thinks it odd that I get so much satisfaction from nuking hornet nests around the house...

Bees, wasps, etc. scare the hell out of me because long ago I was stung by a harmless looking ground wasp on the arm and two days later I was at the hospital having IVs pumped in to me with an arm swelled up to my?ÿ leg size with doctors ruminating about surgery to release the swelling pressure.

I had no anaphylactic shock symptoms (hard to breathe, swelled up mouth, etc.) so the doctors said carry?ÿ an EpiPen(s) for the rest of your life because next time you may be sensitized and have life threatening troubles.?ÿ No problem and have done so for decades, but they expire every two years or so and last time I bought them the price had gone up 450%!?ÿ What's up with that?

Mike,?ÿ

The manufacturer jacked up the price. However! There is light at the end of the tunnel, because 2 generic versions were approved recently. One is a half-price version from Mylan (Epi-pen maker) for only $300. There's another manufacturer making a generic version which looks like it will be around $110-120 or so.

Just got stung 7 times last week while looking for a corner and disturbing a ground hornets nest. My arms looked like popeye's for a couple of days. Luckily for me I am not allergic. It always seems to be in the fall on a hot muggy day that I run across a ground hornet's nest.
