Race car spelled backwards is race car.
I just learned that in a book called Hobo by Eddy Joe Cotton.
I recommend it.
Also The Road by Jack London and You Can't Win by Jack Black.
I've been obsessing about hobos recently. It's a good thing I'm too damn old anymore.

Siddartha I've read. The other two have intriguing titles, I must say.

When I was studying for my test, I noticed a mentor of mine had a palindrome license number. I pointed it out to him and he said he hadn't really noticed it.
When I passed and got my number, it was the very next palindrome number available.

These aren't necessarily hobo stories but they have something in common. Check out this story that was in our daily paper recently: http://www.roanoke.com/columnists/casey/wb/280995
Some of my favorites about the traveling lifestyle are Peter Jenkins two books A Walk across America and the follow up The Walk West. I'm also just finishing up my third time through Steinbeck's Travels with Charley in search of America. All great reads.

That is a great story. I liked this:
Over and over again, "If someone had two dollars in their pocket, they would give us one," Pontone says.
Years ago I read the first of the Jenkins books. I need to reread that and then look at the other one. I also loved Travels with Charley and don't care that people are now saying some of it is not exactly factual. I believe that it's a true record regardless of the details.
