That's a big deal for Surveyors ... that's where the French Scientists ran their chain of quadrilaterals in the 1600's in an attempt to disprove that Sir Issac Newton's theory that the Earth was an oblate ellipsoid.
Once they did the same thing from Quito north to the Equator, they unfortunately proved that Newton was correct.
