I got a call today on behalf of the American Petroleum Institute asking a lot of 811 questions regarding pipelines. I mean like 15 minutes of questions. At or near the end I was getting perturbed so I asked the caller about the American Petroleum Institute, it's address etc. Caller could not respond, all he knew was that he was at a call center. So I ended the call.
After Googling I called API directly at:
American Petroleum Institute
1220 L Street NW
Washington, DC20005-4070
1-202-682-8000
I lost 6 minutes as the computerized "Cisco Unity Connection Messaging System" ran around and around a circle not allowing an extension connection or forwarding to an operator. I did a further search and got the API's President's name.
I redialed and tried the directory search for Jack Gerard, their system disconnected me before I got an extension.
On the third try a real live operator answered and I was forwarded to his office. A pleasant secretary took my name and complaint.
Should I await a response?
Has anyone else received a questionaire call?
Paul in PA
not yet.B-)
What are 811 questions? "Call before you dig"? I don't get it, were they testing your knowledge as part of a contracting process?
It's a lobbying group for the oil and gas industry that's running a...survey.
[sarcasm]Caller: This is Ashley with the National Group and we are offering discount services for your participation in a short survey.
Me: NO to everything, goodbye.[/sarcasm]
You will get a response in the same year the Kansas City Royals win the World Series.
At least the American Petroleum Institute cares about your opinion; politicians do not.
I have taken two courses from API. Both were very factual and informative.
If we had listened to API, maybe the Keystone Pipeline would exist and gasoline would cost $2.50 a gallon.
