My tree-hugging neighbor caught me putting some neighborhood stray cats on the smoker after I had "dispatched" them. Disgustedly he asked, "How do you do that??!!"

I told him, "Simple. Low and slow at 200 for about 8 hours...the secret's in the rub."

I've tried gator... I just don't get it. Cows and Pigs and Chickens are so damn good! Why mess around trying to make leather edible?

I have also and found it disgusting at best. After trying gator tail, deep fried of course, and in a moment of non sobriety sampling some sort of rattlesnake "fillet".
Henceforth anything from the reptilian species, including, but not limited to, "Hoover Chickens" ain't gonna get 'et by me.:)

I've had frog legs, turtle soup and rattlesnake that I liked. The gator I had was a frozen chunk I tried at a fancy so-called Cajun place here in OKC. The meat was worse than their fake accent.

Fresh rattler and Pork&Beans is a great campfire meal.

There's some tender backstrap and flank on larger queens, ribs only on the old toms.

Haven‰Ûªt had the opportunity to sample the back strap or flanks (or ribs for that matter). I‰Ûªm sticking with Andy J‰Ûªs idea with cows, (no offence HC) pigs and chickens. However, considering where us Floridians live, there is always fresh seafood available. And it ain‰Ûªt real hard to catch it yourself. 😎

I guess it's technically "cow" but buffalo is a really great cut of lean meat too.

Sadly in Oklahoma "sea food" comes from a place we call "Dead Lobster" and all of it comes frozen in cardboard boxes.

There are actually several places in town that fly their fresh fish in on ice and it's good but pricey. I get my Gulf shrimp there all the time. It would still be nice sometime to buy shrimp that are still crawling around a little bit...

And contrary to the picture shows, we rarely eat horse here in Oklahoma.

A long time ago in a state far far away (Texas) I used to go to a little town on the Gulf Coast (Kemah) and get shrimp straight of the boats. Ungraded, not cleaned, just get what you get, some jumbo and some very small, most in the middle. But it was a dollar a pound so I could afford to lose a few small ones. Grill the jumbos and boil the rest. Dang, now I'm getting hungry.
