1964-1966 My family lived in Chile. I was in Kindergarten there, and took 2 public buses to get to school. I wanted to wear my coveralls on the bus like the other children, my mom didn't want to tell me they did that because they were poor and could ride for free. My idea of fun was taking a ride on the "Sol del Pacifico" bus up the coast, they drove on windy coast roads like maniacs, and the drivers would let?ÿ me sit on a small seat beside them.?ÿ?ÿ
Came to Pittsburgh in 1966. Never wore a bicycle helmet, spent summers in the woods near my house, swam in the Allegheny River (dodging barge traffic), somehow survived all of that.?ÿ
