Triangle blaze established in 1934 near Nebraska triangulation station "Sand" as described on NGS datasheet MK1964.
In 1934, the distance to the Burr oak was 43' and the tree was 14" diameter. Today the same tree is 28" diameter and the blaze is 42.1'.

Cool. I've only seen triangle blazes on a 1908 Level Run from Ft. Klamath to Crater Lake to Prineville. The example below is on a Western Juniper used for intermediate Bench Mark 199 (the bench is a spike at ground level on the root wad). They scribed the elevation in the triangle "3276". The 3 is grown over:
