My youngest daughter, Kelly, turns 21 today.
It seems like just the other day the Doc handed her to me in the delivery room.
My observation to young parents: I don't regret one dime I spent on family vacations that I couldn't afford. Do it while you can and don't wait until you can afford it.
She told me she wants this drink called a Gabwacker. half oz vodka, half oz gin, half oz triple sec, half oz coconut rum, half fill orange juice and half fill cranberry juice. I put all that in a mixing glass with ice, stirred it 30 times each way and filtered half into a martini glass and the other half into another martini glass for her Mom (I have to drive tonight). I took a sip, tastes like fortified fruit juice to me but she said she likes it and now I have some Bombay regular for Saturday's cocktail hour (once a week is my limit).
Amazing she would know a drink recipe like that and just now turned 21.
I'm just messin with ya Dave. I used to make drinks for Dad before he got home from work back in the 70s. I remember one night I had made him a pretty good salty dog and he said to make one for myself. I was barely 17 then. Apparently I also made a mighty good bloody mary - his favorite.
I haven't had a mixed drink in years.
But Dave, I have to ask, if your daughter could make a killer french kamakaze I might just have to ask you could I marry her. 😀
Again... I'm just messin.

PS: I ran across your business card in some of my stuff the other day. Why would have that? I'm guessing I bought the Linksys router from you (maybe) for the Mike Porter fund. That's all I can think of.
Interesting...
I have one of Dave's cards, too. From his Parks days. The guy must really spread 'em around.:-)

I distinctly remember my Dad coming home from work and mixing Vodka Martinis for himself and my Mom. They would sit and read the evening newspaper (The Bakersfield Californian).
Years later a friend who was raised in a very conservative home (they were Nazerines) told me he thought my parents were really cool drinking cocktails and my Mom would say, "Damn Charlie" etc when reacting to news stories in the paper.
Interesting...
Don-
Let me know if you need one of my Cal Fire cards :-).

P.S. I got swarmed by Yellowjackets today. The little bastards got me at least 5 times. They mark you with there chemical then the whole nest starts chasing you. Of course the crew just laughs at the crazy chief yelling DIE YOU BASTARDS, DIE!!!.
Cheers Dave. My oldest daughter turns 29 on Fri, my son turns 26 on Sat. I guess late Jan is good for something other than the Super Bowl....
Somehow my 24 yr old daughter got born in Jan. I think the Red Wings won the Stanley Cup that year... must be the ex & me hooked up during the 2nd round.... yea, that's it...
God bless them all
