Last year, my firm completed an above average project based on project amount. It was biggest work we did in past 10 years or so.
Paid crew 3x above what is their normal rate. So coffers are filled for the next couple of months. Because of this, unconsciously or consciously
I have been pricing new quotes way above my usual rate. I just wanted to take it slow for a bit. Took the family to a long delayed
vacation (hence my other thread re Vacation Time). Even with my high rates, I have landed several work contracts. Not sure why though. Before, I was pricing my
rates a bit low just to get the work, keep crew busy & pay their salaries.
Business cycles are strange.
Charge twice as much. Work half as much.
Charge twice as much and work just as much.
My father has been given grief ever since he posted a yellow page ad back in the 80's "Expensive but worth it".
My mother was at a high society function and the topic turned to septic designs. "Oh we had Terry Eldredge prepare our design..." They turned to Mom who was not a usual attendee at such events. "And do you have a septic design by Eldredge?" She replied, "Well no, but I think I my husband would prepare one if we needed it."
