I find the show interesting. I am, however, concerned at the poor safety practices displayed on the show job sites.

I doubt any of his shows are on a union project as unions typically are much better trained on working safely.

I have many clients that will not allow you on their projects if you display the safety practices as shown on this television series.

Many times I've seen him wear ppe for specific jobs. However, I've never seen him 100% tied off at over six feet either.

Many times he's on jobs that aren't covered by OSHA either. So any practices un are on those are just on those people.

OSHA or no OSHA, Safe is Safe. He wasn't even wearing safety glasses in one today.

The one I'm watching right now with the tar pits he wasn't either.

Now, we don't know that he doesn't receive training or have been to lots of safety classes either.

I've never checked the show out. From the descriptions, a lot of them seem to be involved with processes concerning animals, one way or another.

Speaking of dirty jobs, you suppose Wendell wears goggles or waterproof boots?

I took an 8 hour refresher

a few weeks back for personal fall protection.

The guys from the Discovery Channel showed up with the most expensive rigs we'd ever seen. They had no idea how to get them out of the plastic, let alone wear them, but they left in good shape.
But I was just amazed at those harnesses, with all those extra pads and belts and steps.
You're supposed to be rescued in 15 minutes or parts of your body can have some serious problems.

But I think I could have spent a comfortable weekend hanging in one of those harnesses.

I don't think there is enought safety equipment available, to pull the nuts off a sheep, with your teeth, in a manner that is safe.

carry on!!

🙂

Wonder how mankind ever survived to get where we are today without OHSA? Does not seem reasonable does it.

If you study OSHA you will find that pretty much every OSHA rule came from lessons learned through studying accidents that resulted in a death or serious injury. Obviously some of mankind did not survive.

Aren't those the cases that typically make it to the Darwin Awards?
