Minnesota. Interesting situation. Thanks for posting.
Sorta shows a reason that a licensed surveyor shouldn't seal documents for an employer. I know there are lots of folks doing this, but I've always believed that only owners should seal and be responsible for a company's work.
Interesting. Very interesting about the parade of witnesses attesting to Miller's sterling reputation. When you don't have anything else on your side, you've always got character witnesses. I question how good of a surveyor he really could be to have acted so egregiously.

I wouldn't say that. It's indicative of very poor decisions by an individual. I too think it is a good idea to have copies of anything you've certified to. But that obviously should be worked out between certifying employee and employer early on.

$165k is all he sued for? What is that like 6 months billing at most? If they hurt you that bad wouldn't you go after them for more?
Sour grapes on the part of the guy suing. I know good and well that the guys that work for me, that I train, that I mentor may one day be my competition. I don't have a problem with that. Hell one of my best business allies is one of my competitors that used to work for me. We help each other out any way we can. I want him to be as successful as possible because he is my friend. At the same time the guy that taught me the most and gave me a break is sort of my competitor too. Though not directly. I'd do anything for that guy too.
It sucks these guys can't get along and help each other out.
I so wish I had taken some of the files with me when I left the large company. It would not have been ethical, so I didn't, but better than them taking decades of survey files to the dump. The history that was lost!
