Just processed my first "SQUARE" enabled credit card transaction on my Motorola Atrix 4G. This is, for lack of a better explanation..."Bad Fu*c^&g A$$!" (Please... no lectures about professionalism or language. It is what it is.)

In another life I owned and operated an automotive repair shop. My credit card machine came with monthly lease payments and a myriad of different charges for transactions depending on the circumstances, with accounting nightmares to boot. With "SQUARE" there is none of that. Just one transaction price and you get paid every night. That's it.

For those surveyors who are having to grovel with the yahoos that are pimping themselves out to the title companies with price fixing just to get on their vendors list, or those who are servicing the small builder community or individual land owner making improvements on their home, this is an excellent marketing weapon. It gives the "paying" client the peace of mind enjoyed by all CC holders of the consumer protections offered by the CC companies. In addition, we surveyors can receive prompt payment and an alternative to the hassles of checks or the inherent problems with cash.

SQUARE is going to be a game changer for small business. Especially mine.

I agree with you. We don't use credit cards at the office but my wife uses 'square' for her knitting sales at craft shows.

Couldn't agree more.

You process the payment right there in the field.
They get a receipt, via email, you get money in two days.

Love it!

I have the card reader that I picked up at Walmart a few weeks ago for the business. I am going to set it up in the next weeks or so.

We found out about it from the photographer that takes the pictures for our soccer league. He uses it, and was telling us about it. My wife set it up for the soccer program, after researching it.

It sure beats making multiple trips to the bank, and worrying about the checks clearing.

I am due for an upgrade. I have been eyeing the motorola atrix ever since my brother in law bought one and got to tinkering with the google earth app. It is blazing fast. I love it. Smart phones really have changed the way we do everything.

yep, I love it too! been on it for a while with our iphones. the reader is pretty neat, or you can just enter the info over the phone. I would make sure that you implement a policy for reimbursement if people cancel their work, though.

Righty. I have some language in my standard proposal/contract dealing with that issue and the work product.

Because of payment problems in the past when doing elevation certificates or title surveys, I almost always require full payment prior to performing those services. Title Companies are notorious for non-payment down here. In fact, even individuals will try to stiff you. The CC protects everybody.

An awesome tool that the cash register folks have to be plotzing themselves over.
Totally solves the "my wife has the checkbook. Can you just send us a bill?" issue.
I love it!
