So I rethought the possible and cut the line for business services.
It hasn't been a very good business relationship for nearly 7 years for services rendered.
I talked with some of my business neighbors and they experienced similar behavior with the deATsTar. Maybe our little area of the planet was a test market to see how much that they could screw folks and then torment them.
They are a good company for investment purposes as far a blue chip stocks and all but as a consumer they are the dark side, IMO

I went to braoadband service that I was already using for personal affairs.
For a small office and the fact that it is all portable is very nice, nevermind the finacial savings.
The broadband has its limits and quirks but works. The old landline phone plugged into the broadband nicely with number ported.

Same here Robert. I too switched to Vonage, or to a broadband service. I pay 39.99 for two lines. I used to pay around 90.00 for two with ATT. I am not unlimited, which is just another 10 bucks a month but I have every option and then some with Vonage. Number ported. Its was a good move for me.

I ditched ATT along time ago. There are much better options for phone and internet in my area. And ATT has crap customer service.

AT&T is pretty decent in SW Oklahoma but the coverage is a bit spotty when you get away from town.None of the other carriers are any better since none want to build expensive towers in rural areas without a big customer base. However, this is how many of our conversations go using AT&T even in town at times.

I "quit" AT&T a couple months ago. The only thing I had the line for was to recieve and send faxes. Now everything gets scanned and emailed. There were nothing but junk faxes coming through (You'll have to ask me about my junk fax lawsuit one day).
After some prodding, the AT&T rep on the phone said I could have a virtual line and that all my calls would be forwarded from the office line to my Blackberry. It works like a champ and is around $12/month compared to the $65 I was paying. The occasional fax comes through on my Blackberry as message which I forward to my wife's virtual fax.

JB, you know you could just do a distinctive ring on the same line as your voice for $7 per month. That's what I did for years because to pay normal rate for a fax line is just crazy. Works like this 555-1234 voice line and 555-1235 fax. Both on same line. Voice is normal rate Fax is $7 fee extra. Fax come through and ring with two quick rings so I don't answer and fax machine takes the call. I did it that way to change may fax to a full service line later but I realized that faxes are a old technology. Just a few more years and it will be dropped. Vonage give you a fax line for free.
