Great inputs guys. Based on my experience with my folks, everything goes out the window once a serious sickness sets in. But how much is enough anyway right? A stroke could run bills into the $xx,000. This is reason why we bet on real estate. Difficult to sell but you an always sell at a loss and amount is still large compared to other incomes.
I know some folks who invested in real estate in a nearby city and lost 40% of their value within a couple of years. Nothing's a sure thing.
True. You must practice patience when purchasing real estate, research, negotiating, timing all come into play. Never buy based on appreciation, buy a deal. Many people of lost a lot in RE and the stock market buying on appreciation.
Value of RE will go up over time, just don't by on speculation IMO.
