The area is Pecos, TX. I just called to get updated pricing for extended stays. The average room rate for at least a month straight is $200 plus tax. The GSA rate included M&I is $159.?ÿ A nasty Motel 6 I stayed in 4 years ago had rooms near $105 plus tax.?ÿ

I negotiated a rate of 52/day at a Candlewood Suites in ABQ, normal room rate was 95/night. Caveat was I had to stay 30 + nights for the rate.?ÿ My per diem for the BOR and DOI was 147 for hotel/M&I.?ÿ The guys I was working with decided to stay at the Motel 6 and Suites on Osuna.?ÿ They were paying 28/day, right next to a freeway, and even had a murder in the hotel while we were at work one day.?ÿ ?ÿ?ÿ

Some people will put money over all else.?ÿ?ÿ

Just stick with the GSA rates and you'll do ok.?ÿ When I can and its not scary, I'll search a little farther away for a mom and pop run joint and spend less money to drive just a little farther.?ÿ Mileage is $0.545/ mile, and would get billed if not negotiated into the Mobilization cost for the front and back end of the project.?ÿ Comfort and peace and quiet when on the road for a long term project is critical.

?ÿ

Good luck.

What do you folks who spend so much time in hotels do to avoid bedbugs??ÿ?ÿ Can you depend on a quick visual inspection to know you are safe? If you find bugs, will you accept another room in that same hotel?

I'm almost afraid of hotels because of them.?ÿ?ÿ There are web sites listing outbreaks in the last few years in almost EVERY hotel anywhere regardless of price.?ÿ

I'd really hate to bring them home.?ÿ My stepdaughter in an apartment has had to deal with them multiple times and basically lives out of her car during the treatment period, is careful about isolating things potentially contaminated with bugs or eggs, and runs everything washable through the laundry.?ÿ Super hassle for her and treatment is costly for the landlord.?ÿ They are moving after the last outbreak.

I've almost always had a long commute, so when I had big projects due that I had to work late on I'd just stay at a hotel near the office. ?ÿUsually a Sheraton across the street. ?ÿA few years ago I decide to save some money and stay at a Red Roof Inn. ?ÿ

There was a lot of commotion one night and when I inquired as to the nature of the rucus the next morning, the gentleman at the front desk replied: "one of the trannie hookers stabbed a john again." ?ÿBack to the Sheraton. ?ÿ

I've saved money using Priceline for booking motel stays.

Never had a case of them yet.?ÿ?ÿ Lucky, or just don't stay in super sketchy locations.?ÿ I stayed at the Staybridge suites in Sacramento in April,?ÿ and killed a roach.?ÿ I mentioned they might need to contact their pest control and that i killed a roach for them.?ÿ They gave me 5000 points for the feedback.

As far as killing bedbugs??ÿ It as simple as using diatomaceous earth.?ÿ cheap and effective.
