I am licensed in Kansas but the company I work for does not do work in Kansas at all. If I perform a few topographic surveys in Kansas, with all my own equipment and materials, should I register as an Independent Contractor, or would this still fall under Sole Proprietor??ÿ Thoughts - anyone been in this position before?

IMVHO, when you send your clients an invoice to be paid, I would consider that being a Sole Proprietor or self-employed status.

Thanks for those two sites and opinions. It sounds like for these small little jobs I can just do them as a Professional and then request a 1099 from my client at the end of the year, and just file that as income.?ÿ
