OK you guys, what is the skinny on this company. Just got a call from them wanting me to sign up. They say it is only a $25 referral fee once I get the job.

I DO NOT go looking for this type of service and usually just tell them no thank you.

I strongly suspect that it is a device for separating you from your $25.

Thanks Mark. Maybe we should discuss these kinds of things (scams) at the chapter meetings.

ditto Snoop

Just like angieslist.com as well.
IMHO it's all becoming extortion by default. Especially when
they advertise out the wah-zoo about such crap.
In that, if you aren't "registered" with "them" then you aren't reliable/reputable/etc. The BBBs and Chambers of Commerce aren't
much different. They just had the head start - again IMHO.

I remember talking to the "Service Magic" guy. He was really talking up his service, and I was telling him that most of my business comes through real estate professionals and word of mouth, not home owners. To prove how valuable his service was, he asked my zip code and service radius. He queried his database and found that there was only one request for quotes from surveyors in my area in the last 3 months. Then he broadened the search to one year, and found there were two requests. No thanks. I'm not going to pay a subscription fee to low-ball low-ballers for one job every six months. I can do that for free ...

To their credit, though, I said "no" and haven't called since. That's refreshing.

If you ever get one of these guys on the phone, ask them to do that search for you. See what they come up with.
