Could very well be. I will agree the fronts of the buildings (where the surveyor's office is located) appear to be facing north from the shadows. There is some conflicting history about where Pond Creek, Round Pond and Franklin were actually located. I believe what we're looking at is what is now Pond Creek.

Here's another point. These towns weren't settled until the Cherokee Strip was opened for settlement (1893-1894). The Chicago Rock Island & Pacific Railroad Co. laid track through there in 1887-1888. If we are indeed looking at the "Ugly-Fixer" (most nearly a necessity in Pond Creek) we're probably looking SW. If the existing tracks still occupy the original track location (I believe they do) the tracks should be visible some 300 yards behind the buildings. Do you see the same evidence of a tracks that I see ?
