A lot of places talk a good interview game about mentoring/training, etc. Only a few follow up.

I got into office work because I wanted job security and extra money, not because I preferred to work inside. Ultimately I found that the extra money didn't materialize. Longer hours and more responsibility did.?ÿ And when those longer hours started to look like more money they put me on salary.?ÿ?ÿ

^^^THIS^^^!!!!

One of the reasons I left the surveying field a little over a year ago, is this!!! The last 2 companies I worked for offered NOTHING when it came to mentoring. Their method of "teaching" was throwing a pile of papers?ÿ& documents?ÿat me and saying "Here, figure it out!". While I understand that most of this profession is based on self educating and doing your own research, in 12 years on surveying experience I had only 2 (YES, TWO!!!) crew chiefs that would actually?ÿtake a few minutes to explain things.?ÿ
