Anyone have an idea what your clerical and accounting staff should cost for a firm of 10 people? 3 two man crews and two office professionals and receptionist and part time accountant for billings and banking? percent of your billings a month?
What about a surveying and engineering firm of 11 people. Two professional engineers, professional surveyor 4 draftsmen and 2 man survey crew plus two clerical and accounting staff? Percent of billings a month?
I have a CPA firm taking care of our payroll and taxes. Invoicing and banking are taken care of internally. 2012 cost was approximately 1.2% of gross invoicing.
are you paying 1.2% for the CPA and invoicing and banking by in house staff?
Yes.
That’s great, our company is about 7% you know what the normal percentage for survey engineering company’s should be for these costs?
I can only speak for my firm. I'm real happy with my setup, although a good deal of the responsibility falls in the owner's lap: that be me.. 🙁
seems like my question is hard to answer, cannot find any information from other sources?
Do you know of any resources that would have statistics on my question? With technology changing, paperless office etc. I would think the cost for clerical and billing have gone down over time?
I checked with ASCM and this is what i recieved
Mr. Fox,
When I received your request, I did a quick search in our manuals and journals but couldn’t locate any information on topic of interest to you. It might be available in regular business/management publications published by other publishers such as Engineering News Record (McGraw-Hill). If you wish me to do any further research on this topic, there is a fee of $30.00 per one-half hour of my research time (members get the first ½ hour free). However, I can’t guarantee that such a figure exists.
Please let me know your decision.
