From a good attorney/client tonight:

?ÿ

Brad ƒ?? this was sent around my firm by one of my partners:

?ÿ

"Client of ours has asked for a recommendation for a national surveyor/engineering firm to coordinate new surveys for 15 properties (throughout the country).

?ÿ

Any recommendations??ÿ Thanks in advance."

?ÿ

Is this a fit for you?

If so, and if ok with you, I'll pass your name along.

?ÿ

Brad here to my fellow beer leggers ~. Off hand, I cannot think of a way for us to insert ourselves for money, can you??ÿ I am open to big ideas.

If not, are there any national firms we should recommend?

Are there any firms we should encourage them to avoid?

pm me offline as you see fit

I know this...if any of those projects are located in California, that national firm better have someone licensed in California to coordinate and offer those surveys.

If you like the attorney, the list is long.?ÿ

?ÿ

If you actuality like him, take what you can cover and recommend regional firms in the areas you aren't able to cover.?ÿ We have done this with a couple different clients, and has worked out well. The problem is if the client only wants one surveyor.?ÿ

What I picture here is something like Dollar General which intends to build 15 new stores in five different states as a single expansion.?ÿ They do not want 15 different survey firms and products.?ÿ They don't want two different survey firms and products.?ÿ They want one firm with one cookie-cutter looking final product for all 15 sites.

Personally, I do not have any interest in working for such companies, even for a single job.?ÿ My experience over the decades has taught me that they think they know more about surveying than any licensed surveyor and you will do exactly what they tell you to do or they will sic their legal department on you seeking damages.?ÿ As Flo used to say on the old TV show, "Alice":?ÿ Kiss my grits!!"?ÿ I refuse to put up with such crapola.?ÿ I cannot stomach that kind of work.?ÿ But, there are plenty of others who love it to pieces.?ÿ Fine.?ÿ Different strokes for different folks.

Brad - In Florida the headquarters of "The Wantman Group" with offices all over the US is in West Palm Beach. I was VP of surveying with Wantman & Associates prior to it becoming The Wantman Group. Very good survey department that could handle the request.?ÿ

I worked for an engineering company 40yrs ago that would get jobs all over the place.

They had a wizard that we field hands rarely saw because he occupied the entire NE corner of the office building and there was a no disturb sign on his door and it was company policy to never say anything to him unless he has started a conversation.

He did all the final computation work and wrote programs for himself and took care of all the critical data and flow charts to make things work. If they were not licensed where the job was he would study up and go take the test. He had dozens of licenses across America.

I do remember one day hearing him and the main boss having words in the hallway and him saying loudly "I'll never take a test for California, never, don't ask me again!"
