A few years ago I inquired of the Dietzgen Corporation in Germany with regard to using some of their vintage artwork, from a field book, in my business logo. I sent them this photo and they had no problem with me using the artwork.
I converted a photo of the cover of the field book to a raster image, opened it in Carlson and traced over it, saved it to a pdf and off to my buddy at the sign shop. Phone number edited for this post.
