I've been playing around with all of this data for a few days now, and I find it quite interesting. Although I have seen somewhat similar situations from time to time, I don't ever recall seeing one handled quite this way. As Gene pointed out above, the nature of the Metes & Bounds chunk cut out of the LOGOS Lode is not particularly unique, but how it was "handled" in the Patents of the Logos, Big Sunflower and Colorado Mint Lodes is a little different than most of the Patents I have seen.
One thing that jumps out to me is the reference in the field notes of the Big Sunflower Lode MS-2031, of a "compromise line" (page 554). That and the fact that the Mineral Certificates for the Colorado Mint MS-2032 (No.969) and the Big Sunflower Lode MS-2031 (No.970) are significantly lower than the Mineral Certificate for the Logos Lode MS-1720 (No.1441). This would imply to me that there were "negotiations" of some sort going on behind the scenes between the concerned parties. If I were surveying any one of these claims, I would be getting the Land Entry Case Files for all three claims, if for no other reason than learning the whole story.
That said, what is, IS.?ÿ
I also don't get a warm and fuzzy feeling about the returns of Ben L. Cross on the Bearings of MS-1720 (where he called BS), and then "buying into" the Bearings of MS-2031 & 2032. Something about that makes my spidey sense tingle.?ÿ
?ÿIn any case, a very interesting scenario, thanks to Placerlode for bringing it up, and to Gene for digging up and providing Plats, Note, Patents, and expert analysis.
