Surveying Resources: A Free, Public Directory

There’s a new page on RPLS.com, and you don’t need an account to use it. Surveying Resources is a free, public directory of the organizations that make up our profession, open to members, non-members, students, and anyone who lands on it from a search.

In one place, you’ll find the professional associations (national, regional, state, and their local chapters), the state licensing boards, the standards and credentialing bodies like NCEES and ABET, and the government survey offices that hold the public record of the land. We also mapped the ways into the trade: the colleges and universities with surveying and geomatics programs, and the paid apprenticeships that let you earn while you learn.

Browse by type, or narrow to your state. Every listing links straight to the organization’s own site. The whole point is to get you to the right door, fast.

A young person weighing a career, a property owner trying to reach their state board, a surveyor checking a credential: none of them should hit a paywall to find a phone number. A directory like this does the most good when there’s nothing standing between a person and the answer. RPLS.com has always been a place for the profession. This is our front door, held open.

It’s live and useful today, and it’s going to keep growing. We started with more than 200 organizations across the US, with Canada coming along too. If you know one we’re missing — your state society, the program you graduated from, the apprenticeship you came up through — there’s a “Suggest a Resource” button right on the directory. See a dead link or something out of date? There’s a way to flag that too. This is a community resource, and it gets better when the community pitches in.
