How far before the 10th anniversary did you hit 10,000 members?

BTW, I note about 4,600 of those have zero posts. Is that typical for a site like this?

We were actually up to around 12k or so a few months ago, but then I was provided with a large database of known spammers and scammers from around the world. So I weeded out any of the users in our database that matched that database, which brought us down to just under 10k. We've since bounced back up to 10k and that happened about a month ago (although I don't know the exact date).
It's pretty normal for a forum to have a bunch of registered users that don't post. Since some of our forum areas are only available to registered users, they might want to be able to view them even if they don't want to post. There are a TON of lurkers here, both registered and non-registered, hence the amazing traffic numbers we and our awesome advertisers enjoy.
In my not-so-humble opinion, one of my greatest achievements here has been the near-constant maintenance of the user database and the focus on generating the highest possible percentage of actual surveyors to register here. I'm quite proud of this. While some may remember that the old rpls.com had over 40k users at one point, they might also remember that the barn doors were wide open and most of those users were spammers, scammers, and others not even slightly interested in surveying at all. This is why the non-surveying areas here are NOT available to the public -- having only surveying-related forums made public means that the search engines only index the surveying topics. As you might imagine, this helps us to get the QUALITY users and traffic that we have today. That all said -- my motto is QUALITY over quantity. I couldn't give a crap less the actual number of users you see at the bottom, except to know that they are as legit as I could make them.
