SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT for SurveyorConnect Members
Quote from Wendell on August 12, 2023, 3:16 am@olemanriver BeerLeggers was my first attempt at monetizing the site (other than advertising). It never got momentum simply because I jumped the gun -- was trying to offer a premium membership of sorts but didn't have the premium features to offer just yet. RPLS.com will have definite benefits for a premium membership, but they may not all be available on day one.
So yeah, it all goes back to SC/RPLS no matter which one you choose at this point. It all helps, and it is very much appreciated. But the whole thing is going to change after the move. I'm still working out all the fine details, but I do plan to offer something special to Supporters and BeerLeggers once we get over there and the dust settles a bit.

Quote from Wendell on August 12, 2023, 5:34 pm@olemanriver No worries at all. 🙂
The premium membership plans we plan to offer will actually be cheaper than the current BeerLeggers membership. I'll be looking for a way (or ways) to somehow make that work for you once we get moved.
There will be other ways for the site to start supporting itself. One of those ways will involve better opportunities for vendors/advertisers to get involved and to better market their businesses here -- and at less cost than the current advertising prices -- without making the site a free-for-all of flashing banners, popups, etc. The last thing I want is for the site to become one of those clickbait type sites.

Maybe i can follow holycows advice and send you a small square bale and hide some white lightning in it for you to relax in the evenings . All is good for sure.

I've always kept the donate page pretty obscure because of a self-imposed guilt trip

Guilt don't pay bills. I'd plop this right on the front page.

Quote from TonyD76 on August 27, 2023, 3:00 pmHello! It appears this SurveyConnect site is still up and running and inquiring about the move to rpls.com. On rpls.com, are we required to resubmit/sign up with username and password or automatically done from here when it is in operation? Please advise, thank you!

Will you be transferring everyone's profile and log-on from SC to the new RPLS.com blog, or does everyone start at ground zero?

Yes. There may be a few miscellaneous parts of your profile that don't make it (like location, bio, etc.) but it will be really easy to update that. I plan to start making some tutorial screencasts to help ease the transition. I think you'll find that it's generally easier to use though.

There are several things I want to accomplish after the dust settles. One of my top priorities is to allow state/province/national/international associations to have their own groups with their own forums. They would be able to add all of their members to the site, with exclusive access to their own associations' groups. One cool thing is that one RPLS.com member could be members of multiple associations and have the appropriate accesses here in addition to their normal RPLS.com accesses.
Our groups are going to be very powerful, with their own document management systems, photo galleries, built-in Zoom meetings/webinars, and the owners/organizers of the groups (the associations themselves) will be able to manage their own members. Now every association could have their very own forums and such for a very affordable fee.
